Meet Kelley

Hi, I’m Kelley!

For the past 10 years, I’ve been a WAHM (work-at-home mom).  For about 6 of those years, being a blogger has been a huge goal of mine.  I’ve dabbled in blogging many times, starting various blogs ranging in theme from sewing to homeschooling to lifestyle.  In the beginning, and for many years afterwards, I thought of blogging as simply an online diary or journal.  Until a couple of years ago, I didn’t understand the potential that a blog had to be transformed from a simple online journal into something more – a successful online hub that is capable of creating and sustaining an income.  The prospects for bloggers are just so exciting!  At first, I thought “those” bloggers – the ones that were actually successful online with huge followings – had something that I simply didn’t.

It took me a while to come to the realization that it wasn’t that they HAD something that I didn’t, but they KNEW something that I didn’t.

What I needed to do was to figure out what that was.

And that, blogging friends, is where the story of this blog begins.  I wanted to start this blog and do it the RIGHT way.  Not that there is only one right way to blog, but there are lots of guidelines you should follow if one of your goals is to make an income from your blog (and that was definitely one of my goals).

I have spent the last 2 years learning, learning, and learning some more about the business side of blogging.

What makes readers want to read a blog?

How do bloggers create their content?

How do they create such awesome looking sites and images?

What the heck is SEO and how does it work?

How do they get their content and site noticed in the sea of blogs there are?

And the question of all questions…

How in the world do bloggers actually make money?  How do they make ENOUGH money to live on?

These (and lots of other) questions are what I’ve spent countless hours studying and learning.

I started to share all of this exciting information with you!  My hope is that you will be able to take the actions to be a successful blogger without having to spend years of your life on the info gathering and studying aspects of it.  I want you to be able to jump right in and start a successful blog right from the start.  I’m right here with you, working alongside you towards the same goal!

A Little About Me

Aside from blogging, I have many other passions and goals.  I am a Christian work-at-home mom, and I have been blessed with 5 beautiful children.  They are honestly the driving force behind my goal to become a successful blogger.  I want to be able to spend more time with my family than with my job.  Are you with me?  I homeschool my children which I love, but it does take up a lot of my time.  I also enjoy cooking, photography, digital scrapbooking, sewing, and soapmaking among other things.  I love chocolate, enchiladas, Amish fiction, and Pinterest.

My Struggle

No matter how well I am doing in one aspect of my life, it seems that something always seems to suffer as a result.  If I am doing a rock star job at homeschooling, then I’m not putting the hours into my job (transcription) that I need, and I end up broke.  If I am doing a good job getting lots of hours in at work, then my house is a disaster and I feel like I barely see my children.  If I cook a 17-course meal and feel like supermom, then the house is a disaster and nobody has clean clothes.  Can you relate at all?  For me, it is a constant to maintain balance while still making enough money to stay afloat, let alone thrive.

The Solution

I know that in order to be successful, I need goals.  I need to know my why – who I want to become and the reason behind it.  Once I have that picture clear, I need actionable, doable goals, and I need to take action towards achieving them every day.  I need to prioritize my life and my time in order to allow that to happen.  Though this blog is about blogging, marketing, and design for work-at-home moms, everything I do revolves around my why and achieving that.  I think it is the number one factor that helps create drive, and then, success.

I hope that you enjoy my blog.  I hope that you not only enjoy it, but find solid, real, helpful advice.  If you are serious about creating a successful blog, please get in touch with me!  I would absolutely love to chat and help you out.
